What kind of cases are suitable for StarAligners™?

What is the minimum age for patient treatment with StarAligner™?
Orthodontic treatment with StarAligners™ aligners requires adult dentition without any primary or baby teeth. The best solution for adult and teen patients, with optimal outcomes and a shorter treatment experience.
How long does the patient need to wear the StarAligners™ aligners each day? For each aligner?
For effective and efficient patient treatment, a patient needs to wear StarAligners™ aligners for 22 hours a day for 10 days of treatment with each aligner. Ideally, the only time a patient would not wear their aligners is when eating or brushing. Best to mark your calendar so you do not forget when to advance to your next aligner in sequence.
Requires the patient to wear StarAligners™ for 12 hours per night. After dinner, brush and wear your StarAligners™. Next morning remove your StarAligners™ and start your day. Change your aligners every 20 days. Best to mark your calendar so you do not forget when to advance to your next aligner in sequence.
What are StarAligners™ made of?

Zendura™ FLX combines an inner shell to firmly grip teeth and an outer shell to provide a tough barrier against bruxing or grinding from the opposing dental arch. StarAligners™ has highly experienced and educated designers in Costa Rica to control our cost and pass the savings along to the practice and their patients.
What kind of training is required for doctors who want to use StarAligners™? Do you need to take a course?
All doctors and staff who use StarAligners™ Clear Aligners will be properly onboarded on how to use our Star Portal Case Management software and submit patient cases. No formal courses are required, and all onboarding is provided at no charge to the doctor and staff. All onboarding is provided by going to staraligners.com at no charge to the doctor and staff.

Does my purchase include teeth whitening?
Yes, you will receive a bottle of teeth whitening and aligner cleaner with your StarAligners™ at no additional cost.
Will my StarAligners™ aligners cause soreness?
You can expect a little bit of soreness as you get used to wearing your aligners. Your teeth are receiving pressure and moving causing the soreness. Typically, you will experience some soreness during the first few days you wear each new set of StarAligners™ aligners. You can also self-treat with Illumina to relieve temporary discomfort.
Are the aligners really invisible?
They’re as close to invisible as something can be. You would likely have no idea that people are wearing them.
Does the whitening foam hurt your gums?
No. Our whitening foam is gentle and contains a lower dose of hydrogen peroxide than other whitening products, so it shouldn’t make your gums or teeth sensitive or sore. You can use it up to four times daily, as directed on the accompanying instructional card. If your teeth become sensitive to the whitening foam, stop using the foam for a couple of days. You can self-treat with Illumina to enhance your teeth whitening with our whitening foam.
How do I clean and/or sanitize my aligners?
To clean your aligners, just rinse them with cool water. You can also use your teeth whitening/aligner cleaning foam with cool water and a soft bristle toothbrush for a more thorough cleaning.
Never rinse your aligners with hot water or soak them in mouthwash or denture cleaner.

Can patients use teeth whitening foam in their aligners?
Yes, and we’ll provide one bottle in each aligner kit. If using something other than StarAligners™ whitening foam, only use a plain, hydrogen peroxide-based product, with a concentration of 3.5% or less and no other active ingredients.
Can patients smoke while wearing aligners?
We do not recommend smoking as it causes discoloring of the aligners.
Can patients drink alcohol while wearing aligners?
No, aligners will need to be removed while eating or drinking anything other than plain water.
Can patients play musical instruments while wearing aligners?
Yes. Not a problem.
Can patients exercise while wearing aligners?
Yes, exercising should have no effect on your StarAligners™

Why Star Essix Retainers?
StarAligners has selected the most popular Essix retainer material for our Star Retainers. The Essix material is comfortable and is 1 millimeter thick to retainer your teeth alignment.
When do I wear my Star Retainer?
When you finish your last aligner, you wear your Star Retainer for 22 hours per day for the 1 month. After the 1 st month you can go to nighttime wear. Finish dinner, brush your teeth and put in your retainer. Wake up and remove and clean your retainer – simple.
Why do I need to wear a retainer?
When you have finished your aligner treatment, your teeth are straight. We want to keep them that way. Star Retainers are designed to hold your teeth position as long as you wear your Star Retainers as recommended.

What is the StarAligners Illumina™ Oral Therapy System?
StarAligners Illumina™ Oral Therapy System enhances gum health, increases circulation, and teeth whitening.
StarAligners Illumina™ Oral Therapy System
The StarAligners Illumina™ Oral Therapy device uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in the Infrared and Red spectrums which are medically proven to reduce oral discomfort with aligner or braces treatment, increase circulation, and enhance gum health. Non-UV Blue lights increase the effectiveness of whitening gels by removing tannin stains from coffee, tea, and wine, leaving whiter teeth.

What is Illumina™ Oral Therapy self treatment?
Illumina™ is an at-home self-treatment that relieves oral discomfort with aligners or braces, enhances gum health, and increases circulation. Use Illumina™ self-treatment for 10 minutes per arch and is safe to self-treat several times per day as needed, up to 3 treatments per day.

How do I charge my Illumina™ device?
- Plug USB charging cord into port connector on the device.
- Plug USB charging cord into a USB power adapter, and into outlet for charging.
- Charge your IlluminaTM for 2-4 hours.
- Device is fully charged when indicator light is solid green.
Note: A full charge takes 2-4 hours, resulting in 4 full self-treatments.
How do I use Illumina™?
- Fully charge the Illumina™ device for (2-4 hours).
- Press and hold the On/Off button for 2 seconds to see lights appear.
- Place silicone tray into mouth, securing device into place.
- Use device for 10 minutes for gum health and teeth whitening. The device will auto-shut-off after completion of 10-minute self-treatment.
- Remove and repeat the opposite arch.
- Device may be used multiple times per day. Up to 3 treatments per day.
- Place Illumina™ device into protective storage case when not in use.
How do I know if I’m light sensitive?
LIGHT SENSITIVITY TEST
Test yourself for light sensitivity prior to initial treatment:
- Power on your device.
- Place device on or within 1/4” of the skin on your forearm for three minutes.
- After 3 minutes check the area. If area has turned red and lasts for more than 2 hours your skin is light sensitive. Discontinue use and contact Customer Service.
How do I use Illumina™ to reduce oral discomfort, gum health, and teeth whitening?
Reduce Oral Discomfort:
- Self-treatment up to 5 times per day as needed
- Use once daily for a minimum of 10 minutes per arch.
- Self-treatment time is 10 minutes per arch per day. Device will automatically shut off after 10 min
- Use with StarAligners teeth whitening foam to enhance teeth whitening.
Is there any maintenance needed on Illumina™?
- This is a medical device. It is important to keep it clean.
- The device has no user serviceable parts.
- Device includes only an On/Off button. All settings are set at the factory.
- Charge device only with supplied USB power adapter.
- Power indicator light will begin to flash when battery levels are low, indicating it is appropriate to begin charging.
How do I clean my Illumina™ device?
- Turn device off and unplug from any power source.
- Gently wash mouthpiece in lukewarm water. You can also use the Aligner Cleaning Foam.
- Let device air dry.
Troubleshooting: System is not turning on.
- Is the device fully charged?
- The battery indicator light displays on the On/Off Button. The indicator light will be on and solid green.
- If device still does not turn on, call Customer Service at 877-425-4468 or email: email@example.com
Troubleshooting: System is not charging.
- Is USB charging cord firmly inserted into device? The red light will indicate the device is charging.
- Try a different USB power adapter to ensure it is working properly.
- Try a different wall outlet to determine if there is power to the outlet.

Troubleshooting: System shuts off abruptly, prior to completion of 10-minute treatment.
System is designed to shut off automatically after 10 minutes. System may shut off automatically after multiple repeated uses if the device exceeds desired temperature. Allow device to cool for several minutes and try again. If device continues to shut off prior to 10 minutes, please contact Customer Service at 877-425-4468 or email: email@example.com
Traveling with Illumina™ outside the USA.
Power adapter is designed for USA standard 120V power outlets. When traveling outside the USA, you will need to check the local power requirements and use the appropriate power adapter and/or converter.

Limited Warranty Information
Congratulations on your purchase. We value you as a client and strive for the highest quality products to earn your satisfaction. Please use this as your reference for any customer service. The Illumina™ Oral Care System device will be replaced if it fails to turn on with 6-months of your proof of purchase.
What is covered by the limited warranty?
This limited warranty is effective only if the device is purchased and used in the United States. This 6-month limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship with your device. Your 6-month limited warranty is valid for you alone, the original purchaser, and cannot be transferred. If the product was a gift, you can ask the gift giver to send a copy of the receipt to email@example.com , or process the warranty claim on your behalf.
What isn’t covered by the limited warranty?
This limited warranty does not cover damage, defects, or failure caused by abuse or misuse, improper care, impact or insertion of foreign objects, use with incorrect power adapter, or loss of device.
How long does the limited warranty last?
The limited warranty begins from the date of purchase and expires 6-months later. The warranty period is not extended if your device is replaced by StarAligners during the warranty period.
Warranty Limitations & Disclaimers
This warranty gives you specific legal rights and is in addition to your statutory rights. Your remedies for the breach of this limited warranty are limited solely to the repair and replacement of your device as set forth in this warranty statement. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, StarAligners disclaims all implied warranties. If applicable law does not permit the disclaimer of implied warranties, then the duration of implied warranties is hereby expressly limited to the duration of the express limited warranty set forth above. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall StarAligners be liable for any special, incidental, consequential, punitive, or indirect damages based upon breach of warranty, breach of contract, negligence, strict product liability, tort or other legal theory, even if StarAligners is advised or aware that such damages might arise. Such damages include, but are not limited to, loss of device, cost of any substitute equipment, the claims of third parties, or damage to property. If the applicable law does not allow limits on warranties, or on remedies for breach in certain transactions, the limits in this paragraph and the disclaimer or exceptions from warranty may not apply. This limitation does not apply to claims for death or personal injury caused by a defect in the device or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law. These warranty terms, conditions, and limitations allocate the risks of product failure between StarAligners and you, the purchaser of Illumina™ system. This allocation is recognized by both parties and is reflected in the price of Illumina™ system. By using Illumina™ system you acknowledge that you have read these terms, conditions, and limitations, understand them and are bound by them.
What will StarAligners™ do if my device is defective?
If you discover a covered defect in your Illumina™ system before the 6-month warranty period expires, contact Customer Service at 877-425-4668 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance. All limited warranty services must be authorized and performed by StarAligners.
Do not use the device if power adapter has fallen into water or is damaged in any way. Doing so could cause electric shock or result in injury. Please contact Customer Service at 877-425-4468 if power adapter has been damaged in any way.
Stop using device immediately if you think it is defective. Using a damaged device could result in injury. Contact Customer Service at 877-425-4468.
Do not bend or abuse the wire of the power adapter as this can cause electrical shock and problem.
Use only the supplied power adapter. Use of incorrect power adapter could damage the device.

Do not attempt to take the device or power adapter apart. Any modification or attempted service will void the warranty.
Do not store device in sun or location with high temperatures as this may cause damage to plastic casing.

This product contains a lithium-ion battery that must be disposed of properly, according to local laws and regulations, and not as household waste. When the product reaches its end of life, check with your local state and municipal waste disposal regulations, to learn about disposal and recycling options.
